Wednesday
This was a neighbourhood I was excited to visit, as the internet promised a bustling atmosphere. Alas, we came at the wrong time. We should have went there approaching evening instead. Not to say there are no other charms to it!
Getting off the station
Following the bridge and path away from the station, we passed by a quiet little cemetery. It was a surprising little discovery.
The place was really quiet, a slow afternoon. Although it meant that nothing was there for us, as most shops are closed, we could take pictures without having crowds.
This place looks so.... anime
This long flight of stairs reminded me of Hong Kong, although I'd never been there, but it seemed like a place where lovers meet. Where I live in Malaysia, I don't usually see this view!
Back alley
Most of the people there in the afternoon were old people. Perhaps they live in one of the many apartments in the neighbourhood.
The photo above is my favourite shot of Yanaka Ginza. I feel that it has a distinct character carried by the two contrasting men and the unique bus. It was the only one like this that I saw in Japan. It was love at first shot.
I also adore this picture because the lady seemed so serene, which actually was how the place seemed to me. Tranquil.
Yanaka Ginza has more apartments built together than the other places I went. It reminded me of Singapore. I was surprised by the amount of people as compared to the amount of apartments, like where did you all went? Of course to work, but still.
It was lunch time and we still didn't see any restaurant in sight. Hungry people makes for angry people, so at that time, it was an unpleasant experience for me as some of my travel buddies started to show faces and bad behaviours. Come on guys, do something about it instead of whining.
We came across a conbini, Family Mart if I remembered correctly, and I was happy to try out the bento sets. A few of them didn't want to have conbini lunch, but obliged since there were no other choices. While holding plastic bags of bentos, we walked around looking for a place to eat, as the space in front of the store wasn't enough for the 8 of us. Gradually, we reached a place with landed property and there were gardens with flowers plentiful.
It was like spring
Rejoice, a park!
Some children were playing there accompanied by their Moms. We sat at animal benches and consumed our lunch. With a drinking fountain there, we were able to refill our bottles. It is so hard to find water in Japan. The dispenser was unique though; it looks like a tap and in order to use it, we have to push the bottom of the tap head, and water will flow down. It was the first time I had experienced something like that, I was like wow.
There was a small public toilet as well and it was reasonably clean, although not sparkling. The tap was special too, just like the water dispenser.
Some fishing boys
The Golden Hour was approaching!
We have one more location in our schedule - our last stop for the day. Tokyo Skytree!!
After a long long time lol
