New In Japan, Autumn, Day 2 : Ueno Koen (Part 1)

October 21, 2015
Wednesday

Oh my God I am finally back with my Japan updates. I just had a sudden urge to do it and also if not now, I wouldn't have much time to do it during the semester which is apparent in my slow updates. The last time I updated about the trip was on November and it's only technically the first day we walk around! Since on the first day we reached at night.

Let's start!

Since we were at a park, I was all ready to pick up leaves which was one of my main goals in this trip lol. I still don't regret it because when I look back at them in my travel journal, I feel so satisfied.

Previous Budget Japan post click here.

After going up the stairs for the Panda Bridge exit, we came across a garden with not a lot of people but a lot of sakura lookalike flowers!

Beautiful~

Even now I'm still surprised at the fact that a lot of older Japanese do life drawing/painting at gardens. The man in the above picture might have done that as well because he was just packing up when I got there. It's so cool and cute!

We sat down and kept applying lip balms to our lips. It's just the 2nd day and I can feel my lips drying up already.

After the garden part, we gravitated to a part with temples and classical buildings.

I felt as if I transported back in time.

Go under this bridge to reach Kiyomizu Kannondo Temple.

Beside the entrance to the temple.

I still think this plant is cool.
In Japan, they often use bandages or bamboo bandages to tweak the shape of a plant.
All so new to me.

At this point, I suddenly wanted to go to the toilet but we couldn't see any in sight so we went down some paths and stairs.

Gathering our bearings and also quickly locating toilet.

The first few days in Japan were mostly used to get used to following the map and finding out where is where because everywhere looks the same.

Before going off to find for the allocated toilet, we took pictures with the temple~

Love this view~

The toilet further down the road.

At this stage I'm writing, I'm not sure where we are anymore because there were so many stairs lol.

Oh, I remember this stairs.
We went up looking for a toilet too but ended up just taking photos with some big rocks hahaha.

Upstairs is an open space nearer to a busy city. One side is the temple, another side is a modern setting!

Even dogs are calm in Japan.
They look big, but are small, hahaha.

*notices speciallooking structure around tree*

It's hard to justify its beauty because I feel like no matter what angle I take, it wouldn't be as breathtaking as seeing it in front of my eyes.

Metamorphosis.

After that, we went down the same stairs and ahead to a temple.

This was the first Japanese I saw painting publicly and little did I know I will see more.
They made me want to do it too because it looks so relaxing.

City at the horizon.
I still find it strange and awesome how Japan incorporated old and new together so closely.

I find that shrines can pop up in the middle of a city and also a house in the middle of busy streets with shops and restaurants. So unique!

Sis gave me instructions how to wash our hands since she did it during her homestay in Japan last June. Or else I think I would attempt to do it incorrectly.

Benten Hall Temple

This was to the right of me when I was walking towards Benten Hall Temple.

There was a man standing near the path talking into his phone and some people walking pass so it took me some time to get this picture haha. Perfect.

Speciallooking tree
Makes me feel like we're in summer

1 o'clock, but felt like 9am because it was chilly.

Contemplation.

I like this picture, it's like a drama~

Taxi stop; so safe and convenient.

Car park! Was surprised to see it actually.

Okay, we spent a long time in Ueno Koen and I couldn't cover it in one post so wait for the second part! The next part will feature the famous line of trees and some couple more temples/shrines.
