Chinese New Year!

Gonna update something about my life because it has been some time if I remembered. Life has been so-so but this CNY was a particularly enjoyable one! I had always feared staying home during CNY because it feels void of human existence. Nobody is around and the streets are empty.

But most of all, this CNY is the first time I didn't remember what happened 5 years ago during CNY as I had been remembering it every new year since. He broke our front door and came in creating argument. I was so scared, our late great grandmother was upstairs sleeping in our room and it was too late for me to go down as he will see me and so I fumbled around upstairs, looking out the windows and peeping into the living room. It was a horrible memory. We were traumatized.

Never again, I thought, no guys. I will look after myself and my family.

This CNY, I found myself not remembering it partly because I was too busy with assignments and also kinda excited about going to Johor in about 10 years. It was amazing.

CNY Eve

Even of CNY we went to our granduncle's house to eat steamboat like how we do every year! Love the cooking part again and found myself cooking more than I eat.

I look and feel tired man.

Mag is so grown up now! Don't be fooled- Mag is a boy. He used to be so so little when I first met him and now he's grown up to be so hyper. I've always been scared of poodles and don't really like them perhaps because of Fifi from Goosebumps and also bitch poodles in cartoons. I have bad impressions of poodles. But it was OK, I've come to feel that every dog feels the same. They have the same kind of soul.

Poodle conquered!

It's hard to get a decent picture with him dammit. He's always moving around.

I am super scared of playing with dogs because I'm scared of being bitten but this year I can proudly say that I conquered that fear as well! Come at me anything! I'm ready.

I feel like there is a certain kind of thrill at facing my fears and I am sometimes up for it.

Day 1

Day 1 of CNY, we are vegetarians for the whole day. Went on an outing with my grandma (dad's side) and one of our aunty and it was pretty dull walking around so sis and I went to Borders and freeloaded on magazines. It was also the day of my transformation because I bought so much new clothes that I can't help but wear them every single day.

It was pretty fun considering I don't usually buy new clothes or have interest in dressing up most of the time but I'm really trying! I also gave up and bought a shoe with platforms and well, isn't it the best choice ever; it actually helps in making me look nicer hahaha. I still look 15 in T-shirt and shorts though.

Vegetarian dinner! I always look forward to it because its so flavourful and you could never really get too full.

Tackle him!!
I would have freaked out if I have to catch/hold on to a dog last time.
But I'm feeling brave as I grow up.

Quickquickquick - finally!

Day 3

No Day 2 because we were at home doing assignments. Yay! Went to Kluang first thing in the morning like finally! Johor, here I come!

I feel like a tourist and that makes me excited lol. I just love walking around and looking at things arghhh let me travel!!

For some reason, this plant is really popular in Johor.

Homemade pan mee for dinner! First time eating I think.

For lunch we went to a better restaurant to eat and we have 3 tables. It has been a while since I saw my Johor relatives and them us. I was kinda feeling awkward because the last time we went there for a wedding, there were no one our age and the kids were not open to us.

But fortunately, this time they were OK! We tried initiating conversations with them whenever we can hahaha.

Playing poppers
I used to be so afraid of them because I hate sudden loud noises ugh.

After food and everything is over and it was quite late, we saw some cheap boutiques and went in. It was crazy! There was a shop where everything was RM15 or less. We had to take out our shoes for both the shops we went in which was a bit unique.

Trying on the new buys.

Oh btw I also took the interest in painting my finger and toe nails because I bought 4 for RM10 nail polishes and wanted to paint. Little photoshoot session:

Pyjamas I bought from Japan! I wanna buy more. :P

Day 4

Morning, we went to my aunty's house - she just had a baby on the first day of CNY! Apparently you don't have to give ang pau (red packets) if you give birth so I told my grandmother I'm gonna have a baby every CNY next time.

We checked out of our hotel and head for Johor Bahru which is nearer to Singapore.

Got lost and came across this unique cafe (?) which have books hanging from the ceiling!

Baby! Baby! Baby!
Even a baby weighing close to 3kg looks so tiny. We were less than 2kg when we were born. We could have been paper.

This little girl has 2 big brothers! My grandmother mentioned that our late great grandmother asked this aunty to give birth to a baby because the next one would be a girl and it came true. How do old people even know this stuff. Maybe I will have this magic when I get old.

Another new dress but can't really see the details. My phone was seriously running out of space so I couldn't snap as much photos as I would have liked. It was OK though, teaches me priority.

Sis and I chatted a lot with an aunty, the one who got married when we had to come to Johor the other time. She was so friendly and was an alumni of MMU I think. There is quite a few of my relatives and Mom's friends who were in MMU so I feel a certain attachment to the school. Plus, I like it too.

We made an abrupt plan to meet up with Giang but it didn't materialize because timing was not good.

Day 5

Awkward pose because I'm running out of phone space and pose ideas.

We dropped by Melaka on the way back to see more relatives and accept more kaching kaching. $$$ Hahaha no la. I just really wanted to go to Jonker Street. I was quite excited about it. It's like after going to Japan, I wanna go everywhere else even if it is just the shopping mall. I enjoy walking around and feeling what it's like at a certain place.

Jonker Street is like a combination of Harajuku and Shimokitazawa, but more like the latter. So much feelings! I was so happy there because I liked these kind of busy places even though it makes me light-headed sometimes. Bought more clothes which was also worth it. Somehow Mom lets us buy so much clothes I think is because she knows normally we don't buy clothes. We just walk pass boutiques and head to the arcade lol...

That's about all! I collected more cans from this little trip which was so nice. Like the classic shorter cans because now all cans are becoming slimmer and taller to accommodate space, according to Jared. Efficient. Gotta collect the old cans before they die out.

I have a rule for collecting cans - I must buy that can or take it from somewhere like people's house during CNY. Most of the time I have to drink it or like my Mom or sis because I don't wanna start randomly collecting cans because that will blur the line between collector and rubbish keeper. I feel that there is value if I buy it lol. Unless the can is really rare. And only certain designs attract me. I will also collect limited edition ones like the CNY special cans or for whatever reason they have a special edition.

The first can that made me wanted to do this was Carlsberg's special edition can, the one with red and blue though the red one is harder to find. It was almost RM7 so I didn't buy when I saw it last semester. But I finally bought it yesterday! That feeling was so good. I wanted someone to help me drink the alcohol though because I don't like the taste. Last semester, I was broke (still is) and Giang didn't want to help me drink it so I let it go. But it has found its way to me again. :D :D :D

The other day, I had a Shandy which has a really really small percentage of alcohol and that made me feel warm and relaxed and just wanted to sleep lol. I wanna go back to Japan and buy the alcohol next time as I was underage last year. Their beer cans are so cute! There was one with a cat on it and I only see it once and I want it! Again, someone help me drink, pleaseeee.
