Sometimes I don't know how to start a post. There's so much I conjure up in my head and then I forget all of it when it's time to write.
Anyway, my internship finally started! I am placed in the Lighting and Compositing dept, although I requested for an animation placement. Oh well, perhaps they see something in me that I don't.
Hehe cute!
The first half of the day was practically spent explaining stuff to us. There was only one other intern in my department - AJ. We shared a class once. Most of the interns are placed in the Animation dept. Miss Mastura, the studio manager, said we are encouraged to walk around and learn anything we want so I will try my best to visit the Animation dept as I can without it being awkward lol.
The reason why I wanted to be in the Animation dept was because I am the only character animator in my FYP group, thus it will be a great help if I can gain some industry knowledge and some practice. When I first got the offer of a Lighting and Comp Artist, I was a little worried because
First, I am largely involved in Production in my FYP group,
Secondly, I am not keen on rendering or most Post work.
So I was having these doubts in me, like what if I couldn't do well, what if I don't understand anything, shit it's been so long since I really focused on Post. And now that internship has started, I was like damn AJ is a VFX student (I'm a character animation student), she would understand these better than me.
But but but. This is not how Fion fare, so I know I will still do my best! Sometimes I can be quite kiasu LOL. Like I MUST FIND OUT HOW TO DO THIS.
Today was pretty fun. Our supervisor Boon (whom was my lecturers' classmate during their uni days!!) let us explore VRay shaders. It was my first time using VRay but I realized that I needn't worry as it is pretty easy to use. We had to assign shaders to a kitchen of a children animation that the company is currently working on. It literally felt like I was playing a game, trying to mix and match colours, rendering to see the results, giving these shaders specific attributes. I loved it!
Alas, internship made me realize how truly restless I am... I couldn't sit still! I walked many times to the toilet and to the Animation dept to see what my friends are doing (while my renders are loading). AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!
Why can't lunch time be later so I don't have to spend 5 hours after lunch sitting in the office. T_T
