Game Night

Do you get the feeling that you want to blog and then you're like nah... I'm feeling lazy. That's me almost every time and might mainly be the reason that I don't really update my blog. I prefer to play back the scenes in my head because writing it down and articulating my feelings can sometimes be tiring.

But here I gooo.

Last night I went to TH's house for a spontaneous night of games with his secondary school friends. They were already playing Settlers of Catan when I arrived. Later on I played Avalon and Spyfall, both were my first time playing. Avalon was hard for me because I couldn't detect who was the bad or good person, it's just really confusing for me I think because I don't know his friends that well, hence I weren't able to note if anyone was behaving strangely. There was so much going on in my head, trying to take in my surroundings, remember people, getting comfortable around people and remembering the rules of the game.

Safe to say, I sucked at that game. It was so easy to let the bad guys win! When my turn was Percival and I was granted the ability to know who was Merlin, two people took up their hands (when only Merlin was supposed to raise his hand) and I was speechless. Somebody is a lost soul. And so I, throughout the game, was defending the wrong "Merlin" when in fact he was a bad guy. AHHHHH. It could have been a good game if it wasn't for that confusion as I was getting the hang of the game, but oh well.

I enjoyed Spyfall thoroughly though, because I always got a non-spy character! I was wishing and wishing every round not to be the Spy because then you have to guess the location everyone is at without revealing yourself. It was fun to pick on the Spy and we would all shoot him with questions to make him stumble.

Would definitely play it with my friends next time since it can be played online. Its here in case you want to play it. Basically you have a game where your friends can join in via a code, and when you guys start the game, one person will be the Spy where else everyone else is a non-spy with a role in the location. For example, I am a non-spy character whom is a Cashier in a Supermarket. Your other non-spy friends will be let's say, the Security or a Customer.

Anyone can start asking a vague question without giving away the place. A will ask B, B will ask C, and so on. You can ask anyone when it's your turn except the person who asked you before that. Non-spy people will gradually trust their friends while the Spy will usually answers a little oddly unless he is really good at grasping a situation or he already guessed the location.

Okay, you can read the rules online but that's a gist of it.

His friends were friendly, not as awkward as I would have imagined. I have this habit where I think I am excited to meet people and when the time is near, I will be like maybe not, now I'm nervous. You know what I mean? They did try to include me in games and fun which was nice.

All in all, I would play with them again. Looking forward to when we can play Cards Against Humanity together because I am not that good in games where I have to talk and convince people, especially those that I don't know well.
