My birthday month is finally here. Not that I was anticipating it, more so I was not thinking about it. It always feels strange when my birthday is around the corner. I guess it's because we spend the other 364 days not being our birthdays.
On the occasion of my birthday month, I wanted to try doing something for myself, mainly also because it will be my 21st birthday. No extravagant party planned, no getaways, no nothing much save for maybe a dinner and a cake. So, I have decided to answer some questions that I found online. I had actually attempted those before but I stopped because I even reached the 10th question. LOL. I'm interested to know my own answers.
Browsing online, I found a set of questions that are relatively simple and not too mind-provoking, so that I don't actually give up halfway. Like typical me, I am not on time with my posts so it's already the 3rd day of the month even though I have thought of doing it from the 1st day. But! I shall start answering from the 1st day. LOL!
I found them here if you want to check them out.
Day 1 - What are your nicknames? What do you prefer to be called?
It's pretty funny but the first nickname I got (other than the one given by my family) was actually Lok Yee, which is my Chinese name. Hardly a nickname, but I was so rarely called that that it didn't even sound like my name. I wasn't responding to it. LOL. I was 15 years old then and the school decided to do some student-shuffling to balance out the academic level of classes, so I ended up being at the last class. I shared the class with a lot of Chinese students whom prominently spoke Chinese, thus my nickname. Although we were so different from each other (them being kids who smoke, enter gangs, fight, disobey teachers, etc), they were a really intriguing and accepting bunch and actually chatted with me. I had fun. I think I miss them. A year later, I was moved back to the 3rd class as I entered the Pure Science stream.
I had a nickname too when I was in PLKN. I was called Fifi, gifted to me by my Christian gang of friends lol. It reminded me of the scary dog from Goosebumps. I cannot get used to being called such a cutesy name hahaha. But it was all in good fun and they still call me that.
Now in university, the person who calls me differently is Aarun. He calls me Fufu. Lol. Or Ah Mei occasionally, which means 'little sister' as he does when he's trying to imitate my sister. He calls me Bitch pretty often too.
Other nicknames would be Ah Yee (my family nickname) or No.2 when people are referring to us in the context of twins.
I prefer to be called Fion. =)

Day 2 - What books on your shelf are begging to be read?
Hmmm... I have a lot of books waiting for me! Currently on my shelf I have The Zahir, Killer Dreams, The Lucky One and The Book of Gold Leaves. And yes, they have been there for like one year, since I brought them over from my previous apartment unit. At least I have started to read some of them! I am reading Sheer Abandon by Penny Vincenzi currently, and I had just finished Glass Geishas by Susanna Quinn. Some books that I had given up reading was The Scarlet Letter and one modern novel that I have forgotten the title of at this moment. Recently I bought Children of Paradise, which I can't wait to start on. It's at home and waiting for me just like all other books at home.
Day 3 - How often do you doodle? What do your doodles look like?
I think it's safe to say that I doodle once every two days. I'm not a big doodler but when I do, I doodle pages and pages. My doodles vary in style and subjects so I can't really put a name to it. Sometimes they come out shitty, like really shitty, and I doubt my art sense and skill. But sometimes it does look pretty good hahaha. It depends on my mood I guess. The worst thing is if I'm in a good mood to doodle and it just comes out ugly. *OK.jpg*
