Korean Language & PSR Class

It is the 2nd week of the short semester and our Personal Social Responsibility class has been cancelled twice this week, thus I am able to be here. This short semester, I am quite excited because I am taking Korean language and PSR, which is a community service class and relatively easy to pass. My classmates from PSR are quite shy so it was a challenge initiating conversation and group discussions with them. We'll manage! We just haven't warm up to each other yet.

Korean class is quite intensive but the teacher is so cute. She's always cheerful in the morning and I like the way she refers to herself as Seon Saeng Nim, which means 'teacher'. On Tuesday after class, Eli and I attempted an online tutorial, which is in a form of a matching game whereby we have to match the Korean words to their English counterparts and you will be timed. It took us about 150 seconds to match everything with our limited knowledge. There was a scoreboard and some people did it so fast in like 20 seconds... Wednesday was our blended learning class so we don't need to attend a physical class, and so I attempted the tutorial game again. This time with some studying beforehand. There were various exercises we can try out so I tried them out first.

My best score was 20 seconds!! I was so happy and started to assure myself that I'm not such a slow learner after all.

Sometimes I confuse Korean with Japanese because some Korean alphabets look like Japanese katakana. I have to up my study game. For me, it was a good idea to learn Japanese first before Korean because I used to learn Korean online when I was in secondary school, but gave up after a while because it was challenging. And then I learnt Japanese, which was relatively easy for me. After learning Japanese, I finally understood Korean sentence structure. They are quite similar. Korean sentence structures are simpler than Japanese's, but Japanese nouns and vocabularies are easier to remember than Korean's.

Maybe it is because of all the anime I watched.

My Korean name is Pion and it always reminds me of birds. I was quite disappointed there is no 'F' in the alphabets, but it's fine.

Upon sis's recommendation, I started watching Scarlet Heart a few weeks back. I'm at episode 5 now and it is starting to get sorrowful, I even shed some tears. If this kind of darkness keeps up, I can see why sis said it's a depressing show.
