Little Boy Seller

Sometimes in restaurants, walk-in sellers would come to sell their food, whom most of the time would be rejected, and is a sorry sight to see as I imagine the hours they must have walked around trying to sell their homemade food. And unfortunately to say, I don't always buy from them even if I wanted to.

Last weekend, I was having dinner with my family at a Yong Tau Fu shop and there was a seller. He was a young boy, about 9 years of age, which was seldom but not rare. He was chubby and tanned and oh-so-cute as he tried to sell his nangka (jackfruit) packets because he was like a character. We declined initially and he went to other tables. A table at the far end sat 2 ladies, and one of the ladies was friendly and she doesn't seem local even though she looks local. She asked the boy what fruit was it and striked up a rather long conversation with him. I was facing them and then suddenly felt like eating it after some contemplation.

I overheard that he was selling is at RM2 per packet, which was actually RM5. My grandmother, being the kind woman she is, decided to buy a packet from the boy, so we called him over when he was finished with the ladies.

When asked how much is it, he replied:

"1 for RM5, 2 for RM10, 3 for RM15, 4 for RM20."

It was so cute, I cannot. He was literally reciting his multiplication table and I was trying to keep in my laughter. I thought when he say "2 for...", it would be "2 for RM8" or something, as they always do when you buy more than one.

He then proceeded to bag 3 out of 4 tables of sale, the fourth table being a family who just came in. Claps to this boy, the most successful seller ever. XD
