Volume 9, Chapter 35, Page 246 (Bon Odori 2015)

Frequent rains.

Ratio of Malaysian got higher this year which made it look like there are less Japanese. The crowd felt like it doubled.

People pushing around even when lining up for food, especially when it starts to drizzle. I'm starting to get an image of how we will all be doomed if Malaysia ever had something bad happened to it; everybody will be too selfish to mind for others. Babies and kids would accidentally be pushed to the ground by big fat men; in the event of one.

(I needed some time to look over and edit the pictures so I scheduled the post to the Obon night so it wouldn't run out from the timeline.)

When I was at Bon Odori, I started seeing the images in my head as black and white, so that's what I did - switching it to black and white! Some pictures have their colours remained because I think they look better in colour.

Last year, my approach to this event was a soft Japanese photograph style, but this year I envisioned them in a different sense. View last year's Obon here!

I realized I have too much chosen photos (about 100) so I will just publish the most-appropriately-describe-the-event ones. I should create a gallery page sometime soon, which is something I have been thinking about. For a long time. Nothing ever gets done quickly.

It started raining not long before we were reached the stadium so we sat at the covered benches area. Last year, we were soaked as we didn't get to the covered area in time and had to stand at the edges. But we were luckier this time around to get there when the majority was still buying food and drinks.

I spent my time photographing people walking past while the fencing blocks out my view partially so a lot of photos ended up not being clear/bright/nice.

The rain ceases. For a while at least.

Omg damn cute.

Time to buy ramune!

Not too long after, it started raining even harder so we seeked shelter inside the stadium and came to the place where the performers were preparing.

'We can do it' circle.

Japanese parents are so impressive.

Listening to the opening speech by a Japanese man that spoke English and Malay!

Drum performance to signify the start of the event! *dum dum dum*

The show was simpler than last year's but still nothing short of amazing.

Bon Odori starts!

It's an umbrella kind of night.

I think I spotted this man last year.
(Very handsome.)

My Pop Wagon green tea + red bean ice cream.
Wanted to try their ice cream last year but was too broke to do so.

Ruuuunnn.

Almooooost.

Big balloon.

A lot of Japanese little girls wore colourful scarfs as their obi - adorable and unique result!!

During the entire Malaysian dance performance, I was standing behind this stand that supports

the speaker.

It was very loud and I had to bend down in order to get pictures because the rods were hindering my view.

I love the masked character.

Floor open to everyone!

This year, when it was announced that everyone can join in, quite literally everyone joined it.

Or at least it looked like everyone joined in because there were so many people entering the dance floor that it looked so packed. It was nice though.

MMU friends!

Always; there will always been a sad balloon that floats away into the dark expanse.

Warm little Japanese grandma! <3

Overjoyed little boy being taken a picture of by his Mom.

I admire this father's participation in dancing (and getting his daughters to dance with him)!

Taking advantage of Joey's camera's capability to ultra zoom.

Bye bye Obon!

On this night, I ate a hotdog bun (with a very large hotdog) for dinner. Drank ramune and Pocari Sweat (which I thought was an anime thing but apparently not). Bought 4 for RM10 Pepero stick biscuits; good deal!

p.s. I swear black and white photos always look darker in .jpeg as compared to when it was being edited.
