Volume 9, Chapter 35, Page 245 (Post-Convofest Opening Performance)

It was my first time learning a dance 3 days prior to an evening. Good job.

We (sis and I) had no problem catching up as it was a fairly easy dance with basic traditional dance movements. In a compilation of 5 songs (Namibia, Chinese, Indian, Sabahan and Malay), we did different steps according to their traditional way of dancing. Maybe except for the Namibia song (because it was used for us to enter the stage) and parts of the Indian song.

Me left, sis right

Wind game was strong

But yay, cheongsam

Overall, the dance was actually quite awkward considering not a lot of those are dancers. Well, some of them are from Sakti, our uni's dance team, but somehow I don't get why they are not in sync with the music? Everyone was dancing at a different tempo except for the Sabahan dance, end of story.

It wasn't too bad; I just feel it could have been better.

Anyway, our chancellor Mr. Radzi (OK I'm not taking the initiative to check out his full name + title now) gave a speech and he mentioned about a football match or something.

"I don't know if it's between students and students, or students and staff. Maybe our Prof. Rasat can lead the staff side."

Prof. Rasat is our President, whom was also there for the opening ceremony. Some of us laughed, but I think not a lot of people were paying attention because I mean who actually pays attention to long speeches. I did that time though, as I think his speech is not that boring. He's humourous.

The opening ceremony was quite entertaining especially the magic show!! That guy put tissue in his mouth and then produced a long string of something white that looks like sticker paper and it was just never-ending. The string continues on and on beyond the audience seat and had to be handed over to random standerbys to keep pulling. Impressive!

I could see Mr. Radzi was very entertained as he seemed to have taken a liking to the young magician ever since the opening gimmick when he had to use the fan to fan a paper butterfly to let it fly.

On another note, I slept for 2 hours then night before the performance, had diarrhea for 2 hours and slept 2 more hours before I had to attend a 9AM class. Bravo.

Convofest dedication balloon from Nisa, which was not a dedication but more for the fun :3
