Bring one of your favourite things to class and talk about it.

A show-and-tell; that's what we did in General English class today.

We were given 2 minutes to talk about it in an attempt to make us get used to speaking in front of the class. I was nervous, sure, and my hands were cold all until my name was called out.

I walked to the front of the class and held out my teru teru bozu, "It is one of my favourite things even though it may not be valuable."

It was the teru teru bozu that I 'stole' from the walkway to the Management building last year. I took 2 of it (one for sis) which was not to be taken as it was used to promote the Carnival of Japan, but everyone secretly wanted one and quickly, a lot of them were taken down for keepsake. I told the story of how I got it; I think I had written about it before, I'm not sure.

Basically, Edmund and his friend Samuel helped me in this quest to take 2 terus. In the dark, Samuel (being conveniently tall) cut off the strings and there we go! It was quite funny.

After the session, Madam Ong gave a brief review about everyone. "Fion. You have to speak louder, otherwise, it was a good presentation." :D I was so happy as I already know (had always known) that my voicebox is not strong, but at least she didn't say my speaking is soft so I guess that's pretty good. She evaluated our posture, voice projection, body language, eye contact; the essentials of public speaking.

So to have her not to have any other comments aside from my voice volume, I am so so grateful. For most people, she will comment on some of their weaker parts. I was nervous as I've mentioned, but for some reason, I enjoyed myself speaking in front. Is this what OC had done to me? The result of being forced to give presentations, being shot at, giving impromptu presentations and befriending a lot more people? I am slowly by surely improving myself and although it requires a lot of effort for me, it is going to be worth it in the end.

I can already see the improvement of my speaking skills this semester. :)

Go Fion!
