We just posted our first dance cover today under the name ION. Do check it out! ^v^
Taught this little girl tuition yesterday when it was supposed to be an art class. Interesting experience though since she is in a Chinese school and I was educated in a government school so I tried my best to figure out what the homework wants. Chinese schools really do have a lot of homework... English and Malay was OK as she was a very participative student and is quite bright. Maths was partially alright as some of it was in Chinese so I had to ask her to read it out (still couldn't understand lol). I asked Teacher for some translation help and then successfully aided her in learning about ascending and descending numbers. #accomplishment
The few workbooks she had were crazy, in their prints I mean.
Notice the teeny weeny name tags of the students.
We had to see who they were and then write down their names. "I can't see it," Xiang Yi said and we had to go close to the book. What are they trying to accomplish...
She skipped her Chinese homework as I didn't know how to read. Even so, I encouraged her to do the ones she know cuz you know sometimes everyone gets lazy and pretends not to know something even though you understand the other half. Turns out she really did know how to do some of it lol. /powerofpersuasion/
There was a section by the end of the book which is a paragraph of Chinese characters. It tells a very short story and then you have the trace over the lightened words in an attempt to learn new words. She started reading and I'll read together with her when it comes to the lightened words. Actually it was because there were thumbnails beside the words that I am able to figure out what it was. After a while I asked, "Why does it feel like I'm the one reading it instead of you?" She gave a little giggle, "I already know the words."
"You don't know how to read Chinese that's why I want you to read it." Every time after I read the words, she will trace over the letters. I think what she was trying to do was teach me Mandarin! I know how to read all the lightened words because it's just normal everyday items but she was beaming and so proud whenever I read it correctly. So sweet!
She was kinda high yesterday, laughing every so and then. Mainly it was because of the Malay. She finds it funny when she mispronounce the syllable and I had to correct her. Even I had to laugh because it was really hilarious lol.
Omg school starts again next week and this morning I had a little panic attack after realizing it and thinking about group projects. I don't know who will choose me or who I will choose.
