Last week, my whole family finally in such a looong time, went for a family trip to Kuala Selangor. It started out as a relaxing trip to see fireflies at night but turned out we went to other places too. I was obviously very excited because I have never seen fireflies before.
It was also the week right before SPM so I was kinda doubtful but mom was like "Take some time off and relax! Don't study so much!" so I went. Well, I'm glad I went along because even though I admit that I had unnecessarily wasted some days not studying (*cries*) but I also had fun! My cousins, sister and I are so grown up now and the last time we went for a vacation together was when I were in primary school so it was definitely a long time ago.
Btw, I'm supposed to be studying now, but later!
Being the photographer, I realised - omg, there's no picture of me. /.\ Except for that one of me and my cousins in front of an eagle statue and some silhouettes. And camwhoring pics. But I wasn't even in the mood to camwhore so its only that few pictures.
Everything was captured using my phone, so...

This was during the boat ride - I was lucky to be able to capture this!!
More on night boat trips later.
First stop - fish market.
I don't know if you should be surprised that they
are sooo many fish markets here.

These shells were spreaded in the front of the house entrance.
Elena, Pei Ru & Evelyn checking out the lake.
The back of the house that overlooks the lake.
I think we spent the most time here amongst other parts of the house.
The port is just right beside the house so its very convenient!
Having shells-throwing competition with them to see who can throw them
furthest and over the road.
And also being afraid that some cars might be hit. :/
Stopped that game and blew some bubbles.
I was made to catch bubbles. ;_;
The side of the house - the lake floor is seriously dirty.
But luckily it doesn't smells. :/
That one lone chilli plant in front of the house.
Too bad its not big enough for eating.
Or I think the plant will be bare by the time we leave.
The outside sink in the kitchen (also outdoor).
The waste directly flows into the lake.
And also other wastes too.
I think it was very sad that they doesn't have a system where
they carry wastes away to some land instead of into the lake.
The 'forbidden' part of the house - a long extension out to the lake.
I guess its solely for gazing purposes.
Not unless you have a boat as high as 3 metres I guess.
Elena
Me trying to capture some artsy photo of myself.
Had to put my phone on the leg of a chair and select for countdown.
Fascinated by the side view of the house.
They were so excited. *laughs*
Just chilling on the front steps.
Ah sunset! - The port next door.
And some China Chinese people on the port.
I see them wherever I go, it makes me wonder if Chinese
have a lot of free time.
Outside the building of the port.
They cater for eagles-feeding too, so that's how this eagle came by.
I wanted to feed eagles too, but then we have to use
more money, so... so... /.\
The other side of the house (not the next door port).
This is where they park the boats.
Night time - finally!
Stopped to pick up more people.
This sight is so breathtaking in real - it reminds me so much of
Spirited Away for some reason.
Except, this is not a place to bathe, but to eat.
The ending of a steamboat dinner.
It was very very exciting when the boat was about to take off - I didn't know what to expect. Then the engine started roaring and we started to sped and sped and sped. The houses slowly became smaller and smaller and smaller until we felt so big and they so small.
Then it begun to get scary.
It was almost darkness around us and we crossed a bridge and for a moment, it felt like we're forever on a boat. I was waiting for the boat to stop, but it kept on going. Then I looked around me and it was so noisy with the sound of engine and water.
The water diffracted by the boat and splashed up by the engine at the back of the boat looked so scary. Such force it looks as if the waters are alive. I closed my eyes and feel the rough breeze - letting this moment sink in. The happy moment of a vacation.
I looked around and thought - 'what if the boat sank and everybody fell into the water? Can I swim?' I looked at the edges of the water where they meet land and I was doing mental calculations on which side of the land is nearer to swim across and I wouldn't possibly die of chill or some unidentified creature eating me. 'If it does fall, should I swim to the left or to the right? I should swim to the side with more civilization right? Even if it is further...'
So I started to get a little paranoid and also, it started to drizzle. Part of me was like 'Oh shit, I think the boat can't manage to keep us all afloat' and part of me was like 'Omg, please don't rain!!' because the fireflies would hide.
But luckily it stopped kinda being so obviously drizzling and then we can see the fireflies. It felt like forever to their habitat and when we reach there, I couldn't be sure where they were. And then I saw it, they were lighting up on the trees so it looks like a bunch of Christmas trees together! (Then the boat started to tip to one side because everyone started to lean to one side.)
I was so amazed by that sight but I also couldn't see clearly in the dark. It was like trying to concentrate on a broken TV. And moreover, they can't be captured on my phone!! I was partially internally enraged but it was OK because this meant that nobody can capture it too. Hah!
I mean, if you have a really good night camera, then I guess you could.
And then its so unfair
BECAUSE the driver went to the side and took hold of a firefly, but only the front few people could see it! I was waiting for my turn, like maybe they are taking a longer time looking at it or something, but it never came!
OTZ
Other than sad, I was also feeling like my trip here was wasted. Sigh...
We U-turned and went back. Halfway on the way back , the driver stopped on the other side and showed us a tree - just this tree - where white birds were sleeping erected on the branches. Some person (or the driver) took a torchlight so everybody could see them clearer. Also, they can't be captured either.
We went back to land and we went home. And I thought - I wanna live here forever.
